Carpet Cleaning Secrets, Part 1

Cleaning Carpets is sometimes a difficult process. If you wish to clean your carpets well and properly, we have some carpet cleaning secrets for you today! These will help you get rid of pesky stains, and keep your carpets looking fresh and new for as long as possible.  Read on to find out more. Blot stains, don’t rub them Dabbing stains with a cleaning solution and a clean cloth, sponge, or paper towels is the best way to get rid of them. Blotting puts a small amount of pressure on the stain that will soak it up. Rubbing causes the particles to get ground into the carpet fibers. This can also lead to the premature breakdown of the fibers. Always blot from the stain and inward. If you blot outward, you may spread the stain. Club Soda You may have heard that club soda is effective against wine and beer stains, and its true! As long as you do it correctly. Start by blotting the area with soda on a cloth. If that doesn’t work initially, mix one part white vinegar with one part water, an pour it into a handheld sprayer. Spray the solution on the entire stained area and let it sit for 15 minutes while it completely soaks in. Following this, press a clean sponge onto the area to soak up the solution. You may need to repeat the process in order to fully remove the stain. Once the stain has been removed, rinse the spot with warm water. Use your hadn to brush the carpet strands back to their natural direction. After this, lay white paper towels over the area and weigh them down with something heavy – like a phone book. This will also absorb the dampness from the carpet. Leave the towels in place until the carpet is dry. This will happen in about a day. Shaving Cream The best cleaner for ordinary stains is shaving cream. It will remove just about every type of stain. Apply the shaving cream directly to the stain and let it sit for about 30 minutes. Once the shaving cream has been sitting on the stain, blot it away with a dry cloth. Finish by spraying the area with vinegar mixed with water and wipe away the solution with a cloth. Freeze-Dried Gum If you step in chewing gum on the street, you may not notice it until you’ve tracked it across your carpet. To get it out, head to your freezer and grab some ice cubes. Freeze the gum with ice cubes for about 30 seconds. Once the gum is completely frozen, use a spoon to lift up the glob and cut the strands of carpet as close to the gum as possible. If you only cut a small amount, it shouldn’t be noticeable. Using these tips will help you get pesky stains and problems out of your carpet with out much hassle!
